On 12 February, Gordon Brown joined UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and Prime Minister Meles Zeanwi of Ethopia to launch a High Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing. The launch is in line with the agreement reached at Copenhagen that $100bn a year of public and private finance was needed by 2020 to help developing countries adapt to the consequences of climate change and transition to low carbon models of economic development. The Group will explore long term financing solutions for mitigation and adaption for those most at risk.
