The review process ordered by President Obama, in which EPA will reexamine California’s request for a waiver to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles, will begin in a few weeks with a public comment period. The notice of the waiver criteria should be released in the coming weeks, followed by a 45- to 60-day comment period. There could potentially be, but may not be, a public hearing on the waiver. No timetable has been set for when the EPA will ultimately make a decision on the waiver application, but members of President Obama's team have indicated his intent that the waiver be granted.
