The Charity Commission has issued draft guidance on NHS charities that seeks to explain
how the requirements of charity law and NHS legislation apply to NHS charities.

It doesn’t claim to reinvent the wheel, and is a consolidation of guidance and principles
already issued, but aims to ensure all relevant guidance can be easily accessed by those
responsible for managing NHS charitable funds and those with an interest in the funds.

The guidance is in draft form and the commission is seeking feedback on whether the
guidance covers the main issues, is easy to use and is also seeking examples to illustrate
points and issues addressed in the guidance.

The consultation period ends on 9 September and it is intended that the guidance will be
published at the end of October 2008.
