This Law amends  articles 501 and 502 of the Labour Code, in order to reduce the  duration of a collective bargaining agreement clause that makes its expiry depend on the substitution by another collective bargaining agreement. Furthermore, it provides for the  possibility under certain circumstances  of temporary suspension of application of the  collective bargaining agreements.

Law no. 55/2014 provides that, within one year, the law  will  be revised  in order  to  promote the reduction of the terms hereby defined.

The law will enter into force on September 1, 2014 and determines that the new regime  of Article 501 does not apply to collective  bargaining  agreements  which termination  notice has been served until May 31, 2014
