The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced it awarded a $66.9 million grant to the Big Sky Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership for a large-scale carbon sequestration project. The project will be headed up by Montana State University-Bozeman and will be the seventh large scale project for the DOE. The project will see more than two million tons of carbon dioxide injected (about 1 million tons per year) and stored at a depth of 11,000 feet in the Nugget Sandstone formation.
