• David Boundy has been named the director of the AFL-CIO’s new Campaigns Department. The former AFL-CIO political director will now be responsible for mobilizing workers to speak out on economic policy and other issues and integrating SuperPac into the union’s traditional mobilization effort.
  • The Amalgamated Transit Unit (ATU) has imposed a trusteeship on ATU Local 241, appointing two international vice presidents, Marcellus Barnes and Javier Perez, as trustees. ATU Local 241 represents 5,500 Chicago Transit Authority bus drivers and 430 Pace suburban drivers. ATU decided to impose a trusteeship to respond to deteriorating financial conditions, caused by the loss of 18 percent of its dues-paying members from layoffs and losses to its Officers and Staff Pension Plan.
