Bill C-17, An Act to Amend the Foods and Drugs Act (Vanessa’s Law) has received Royal Assent and will come into force on a date to be fixed by Order-in-Council. As previously reported, once in force the amendments will empower the federal Minister of Health, in specified circumstances, to disclose confidential business information in the health products sector without notifying or obtaining consent from the person to whose business or affairs the information relates.
