Many of you may know that major changes to the civil justice system came into force on 1 April 2013.

This may only seem of interest if you are a lawyer, but the changes are seismic in the way in which the civil justice system works in this country, especially in relation to the increased detail of likely legal costs required to be provided to the court at an early stage of proceedings, and also the requirements for disclosure of documents that have been changed to reflect the reality of a world where emails are a main form of communication.

For the effect of the changes on the construction industry see the blog posted by me on the 1 April 2013 and Stuart Thompson’s blog posted on 5 March 2013.
