Yesterday US District Court Judge Martin Feldman issued an order requiring the US Department of the Interior (DOI) to act on pending deepwater permits within 30 days. Calling the federal government’s delays in acting on the permits “increasingly inexcusable,” Judge Feldman said that “not acting at all is not a lawful action.” In a different proceeding, Judge Feldman recently found the government in contempt for failing to lift the unlawful moratorium.
