The compensation limits for certain tribunal awards and other statutory payments will be revised from 1 February 2010. In particular:

  • the maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will decrease for the first time, from £66,200 to £65,300;
  • the maximum guarantee payment per day will also reduce slightly to £21.20.

These changes reflect a drop in RPI of 1.4% over the year to September 2009. In most dismissal cases, the revised amounts will apply where the effective date of termination falls on or after 1 February 2010.

Statutory adoption, maternity and paternity pay and maternity allowance will increase from £123.06 to £124.88 per week from April 2010, while statutory sick pay will remain at £79.15.

As previously reported, there is no change to the upper limit on a week's pay, which will remain at the £380 limit set in October 2009 until February 2011.
