On 27 December 2007, Regulation (EC) N° 1899/2006 of 12 December 2006 amending Council Regulation (EEC) N° 3922/91 on the harmonisation of technical requirements and administrative procedures in the field of civil aviation, was published (OJ L 377, 27.12.2006, p. 1).
Through this Regulation, the JAR-OPS 1 provisions are now introduced into Community law. These provisions, which impose minimum safety requirements for the commercial operation of air carriers, first had to be brought into conformity with Community legislation, specifically taking into account labour issues and economic consequences.
This Regulation indeed gave rise to interventions by the European Parliament, among others in the area of Flight Time Limitations for crew members (cf. Brussels Air News, Issue 17). They shall apply with effect from 16 July 2008.
