Central Ohio news outlets are reporting that Judge Dean Wilson of Perry County has been arrested in Columbus after he allegedly drove his car into a COTA bus, and then fled the scene.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Judge Wilson hit a COTA bus with his black Mercedes on West Spring Street in the Arena District on Sunday, August 31. According to the Dispatch article, Wilson then fled the scene, but was eventually tracked down by the Columbus Police helicopter, and arrested by Columbus Police officers on an OVI charge.
A story carried by the Zanesville Times Recorder noted that Wilson had instituted a program in Perry County schools to discourage teen drinking and driving.
Wilson had no comment, and referred press inquiries to his attorney. The Franklin County Municipal Court website indicates that Columbus Attorney Jon Saia is representing Wilson.
