The key employment law changes taking place on 1 October 2011 are these:

Agency Workers Regulations 2010

The Agency Workers Regulations 2010 will come into force.  Their aim is to ensure that after a 12-week qualifying period agency workers receive the same basic working and employment conditions, including pay and holidays, as if they were employed directly by the end-user client.

The Government has also published guidance to assist temporary work agencies and end-user hirers to implement the Regulations.  It can be downloaded from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills’ website.
