On 2 July 2013, the HMRC’s Tax Assurance Commissioner (TAC), Edward Troup, published his first annual report, covering the period from August 2012 to March 2013. The new role of TAC was announced in February 2012, following public criticism of the way in which HMRC had settled several high profile tax disputes, and Mr Troup was appointed the first TAC in August 2012.
