Jumet was sentenced to 87 months in prison for violations of the FCPA and for making a false statement to federal agents. Jumet’s sentence represents the longest prison term imposed against an individual for violating the FCPA to date. He was also ordered to pay a $15,000 fine and serve three years of supervised release following his prison term. Jumet pleaded guilty on November 13, 2009, to a conspiracy to pay bribes to Panamanian government officials to secure a 20-year, no-bid maritime contract. According to his plea, Jumet admitted that from at least 1997 through approximately July 2003, he and others conspired to make corrupt payments of more than $200,000 to former Panamanian government officials.
