The Pensions Regulator is urging employers to step up their preparations for automatic enrolment as evidence has emerged suggesting that businesses are underestimating the time it will take to get ready.

The Pensions Regulator estimates that it will take the average large business about 18 months to plan and get ready for automatic enrolment. It is currently focusing on alerting large companies as their staging dates commence from 1 October. It has, however, indicated that it will be communicating with smaller companies from 2012. In the meantime further information can be found here.
