Nancy Johnson, a former UAW administrative aide, was sentenced to one year in prison, one year of supervised release, and a $10,000 fine by Judge Paul D. Borman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan for embezzling more than $40,000 of the union’s training center funds to pay for expensive dinners, rounds of golf, limousine services, and month-long stays at Palm Springs, Fla. condominiums. Johnson was the seventh individual to be sentenced this year for her part in a multi-million embezzlement scheme in which the UAW-Fiat Chrysler National Training Center was used as a conduit to transfer payments made to the training center by the auto industry to union and company executives. USA v. Johnson, Case No. 2:17-CR-20406 (E.D. Mich. Dec. 28, 2018).
