On 23 June 2014, the Presidency of the Council of the EU published a second compromise proposal (11141/14) regarding the European Commission's text of the revised Insurance Mediation Directive (IMD 2). A number of amendments are proposed, including (a) the use of the definition 'insurance distribution' in place of 'insurance mediation', (b) deleting the flexibility for Member States to exempt ancillary insurance distributors from registration requirements, (c) reinstating the requirement to disclose the amount (or method for calculation) of intermediaries' remuneration, where this is payable by the customer; and (d), disclosure requirements for insurance undertakings who provide distribution services.  In addition, the general principles on conduct of business rules (Article 15) and professional requirements (Chapter V) have been revised.
