ESMA publishes new MMoU: ESMA has published the text of a new multilateral memorandum of understanding (MMoU) between EEA national competent authorities, and between national competent authorities and ESMA, which entered into force on 29 May. (Source: ESMA Publishes New MMoU)

ESMA lists CCP applicants: ESMA has published a list of entities outside the EU that have applied for Central Counterparty (CCP) status for the purposes of EMIR. There are 37 names on the list. ESMA speaks on supervision and asset management: Steven Maijoor has spoken:

  • on the importance of success of the single rulebook and the technical standards that underpin it; and
  • on systemic risks in the fund industry and whether asset managers can be too big to fail. He also addressed ESMA's priorities for helping ensure consistent application of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) from the end of the transitional period.

ESMA announces CRR transitional period extension: ESMA has announced the Commission's decision to extend the CRR transitional period for collateral requirements in relation to the use of CCPs by six months to 15 December 2014 (although the press release heading states 2015).
