This Report outlines the CBI's consumer protection themes, along with the risks associated with its consumer protection objectives.  The Report is structured by dealing with each of the 'five C's', namely consumer, culture, confidence, challenge and compliance; setting out each of the consumer protection objectives that all regulated firms should comply with. This Report is aimed at all regulated firms and is accompanied by CBI expectations that they show that they are at all times acting in the best interests of consumers.  Some of the key priorities contained in the Report include: 

  • Additional protections for Small Medium Enterprises when accessing credit; 
  • Supervisory work on firms that are not meeting minimum consumer protection standards; and 
  • Reviews and inspections to be carried out in order to support consumer protection objectives.
