From 30 June 2014, employees who have worked continuously for the same employer for at least 26 weeks can apply for flexible  working. According to BIS, 20 million employees now have this right. Employers must deal with  requests in a reasonable manner, assessing the advantages and disadvantages of the application,  meeting with the employee to discuss the request and offering an appeal, and must deal with an  application (including any appeal) within three months.
