The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has issued a consultation seeking industry and others views on improving the efficiency of energy-using products, a commitment made in its 2007 Energy White Paper.

The consultation covers a number of domestic and commercial electrical appliances, as well as information and communication technology and air conditioning products. It sets out the government’s analysis of how the performance of these products will need to improve in the next two decades to meet domestic targets to tackle climate change, and includes proposals for product standards and targets to phase out the least efficient products in each area.

The consultation closes on 27 February
