On March 22nd, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau published a revision to a 2011 rule that the Federal Reserve Board had issued on credit card fees. The revised rule responds to a federal court order preliminarily enjoining the 2011 rule's limit on the amount of fees a credit card issuer may require a consumer to pay with respect to a credit card account prior to the opening of the account. The revised rule eliminates the cap. The revised rule is effective March 28, 2013. CFPB Press Release.
