The Senate approved H.R. 267, the Hydropower Regulatory Efficiency Act, and H.R. 678, the Bureau of Reclamation Small Conduit Hydropower Development and Rural Jobs Act August 1, sending the two bills to the President. The first bill, which passed the House in February, would lessen permitting requirements for small hydropower projects with minimal environmental impacts; the second piece of legislation, approved by the House in April, would ease environmental review requirements for Bureau of Reclamation facilities.
