FSA has written to the heads of the six major retail financial services industry associations about PPI complaints handling. It is concerned that, since BBA started its action for judicial review of FSA’s new rules on complaints handling, firms are placing on hold nearly all their PPI complaints. It stresses firms must deal with complaints in compliance with FSA rules where a complaint can be upheld for breach of general law or an ICOB or ICOBS rule and where appropriate action can be taken that would not be affected by any breach of FSA Principles.
