The NMa published its 2010 annual bulletin in January 2011. The NMa’s annual bulletin precedes the NMa’s annual report and provides a first insight into the NMa’s activities in 2010. It appears to have been a profitable year for the NMa with total fines of EUR 137.1 million, including eight fines on individuals for competition law infringements.
The total amount of fines received a significant boost right at the end of 2010 by the imposition of fines totalling EUR 81.6 million for a cartel in the flour industry1 and EUR 17.746 million for a double-glazing cartel2. Concentration control proceeds amounted to EUR 1.3 million in 2010. In 2010, the NMa also issued 11 reports on suspected violations, dealt with 17 complaints and decided on 83 concentration notifications.
