On October 28, 2022, an agreement was signed between the financial and securities regulators of El Salvador ("SSF"), Panama ("SMV") and Nicaragua ("SIBOIF") whose purpose is the integration of their securities markets.

This Agreement establishes an integration model which, with the prior authorization of stockbrokers, brokerage firms and brokerage firms or equivalent entities (“securities brokers”) of the countries party, will allow them to operate with securities registered with the supervisory entities, as well as those exempt from registration, in real time and remotely, thus streamlining investments in different jurisdictions.

The Agreement adds that the stock exchanges of each party will establish access mechanisms for securities brokers to operate in their trading systems and will also be subject to the supervision of the financial regulator of the market in which they operate.

The Agreement leaves open the possibility of incorporating new parties, which would make the region's markets even more dynamic.
