As expected, Christopher Cox formally resigned from his position as Chairman of the SEC effective noon on Tuesday January 20, 2009. While no announcement has yet been made, it is expected that one of the current commissioners will be appointed as acting Chairman pending the confirmation of Mary L. Schapiro. Cox’s resignation came with little fanfare. No press release was available from the SEC.
