The Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently issued an Interim Final Rule that provides whistleblower protection provisions under the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010 (CFPA). The rule establishes procedures and timeframes for handling retaliation complaints under CFPA, including employee OSHA complaints, OSHA investigations and administrative law proceedings. The rule was effective April 3, 2014, and the comment deadline is June 2, 2014.

The rule will make it easier for whistleblowers connected to organizations under CFPB oversight.
