Wyoming and General Electric are in talks to build a research facility to study ways to reduce the cost of turning coal into clean-burning gas. The facility would cost approximately $40 million to build. GE is expected to put up half of the funding if the Wyoming legislature agrees to match the funding with the other $20 million. GE signed a letter of intent to work with the state of Wyoming and the School of Energy Resources regarding the project.
