On April 23, 2014, the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office issued Opinion No. 14-49 confirming that spinal injections may be performed in unlicensed settings only if the performing physician meets one of the statutory requirements set forth in Tenn. Code Ann. § 63-6-244.  In rendering this opinion, the Attorney General makes clear that being permitted to administer spinal injections in a licensed health care facility does not qualify a physician to provide these same injections in an unlicensed setting if the physician does not also meet one of the statutory requirements in Tenn. Code Ann. § 63-6-244.
