On November 5, 2013, New Jersey voters overwhelmingly approved (by a 3 to 2 margin) a constitutional amendment to raise the minimum wage, starting on January 1, 2014, from $7.25 to $8.25 per hour. The amendment also provides for automatic, annual cost-of-living increases to the minimum wage, which will be tied to the Consumer Price Index.
