The Department of Energy awarded $145 million September 1 to 69 advanced solar energy technology projects in 24 states. Awarded as part of the Energy Department’s SunShot Initiative, projects were funded in six categories: Extreme Balance of System Hardware Cost Reductions, Foundational Program to Advance Cell Efficiency, Solar Energy Grid Integration Systems: Advanced Concepts, Transformational PV Science and Technology: Next Generation Photovoltaics II, Reducing Market Barriers and Non-Hardware Balance of System Costs, and SunShot Incubator.
