Get your cheque book out – it will now cost most of us £500 a year to register with the Information Commissioner’s Office instead of £35.
Information on registration with the ICO can be found here.
From 1 October organisations processing personal data with a turnover of £25.9 million or over and 250 (or more) staff will be required to pay an annual notification fee of £500.
For all smaller organisations the current fee of £35 remains.
Notification is a legal requirement. The ICO keeps a register of organisations which is open for public inspection. Registration makes sure that the ICO and the public can see:
- which types of information you process; and
- why and how you process it.
