The new centralized court for handling all intellectual property right related disputes and appeals, the Market Court, started functioning officially on 1 September 2013. In total eight new judges and two court engineers were appointed earlier this year.

Under the new centralized regime the Market Court is now the court of first instance to hear all civil matters concerning patents, trademarks, copyright and related rights, designs, trade names, utility models, integrated circuits and plant variety rights. The Market Court has also jurisdiction to hear appeals on administrative decisions concerning industrial property right registrations and domain name registrations.
