Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have selected a forty member committee who will design the Green Climate Fund. The Fund follows the Cancun Agreements last December, whereby industrialised countries committed to jointly mobilising €100bn per year by 2020 to help countries protect themselves from the impacts of climate change. Executive secretary Christiana Figueres said: “The transparent, predictable and adequate provision of finance in the long-term is essential to ensure that the poor and vulnerable can build themselves a sustainable future”.
