Published in a supplement to the Portuguese official gazette, Law no. 48-A/2014, of July  31, carries out the second amendment to Law no. 23/2012, of June 25, extending the  period of suspension of the provisions of  collective  bargaining instruments and the  clauses of employment contracts, which entered into force before August 1, 2012, and  that provide for:

  1. Accrued payment of overtime  work  above the limit established by the  Portuguese  Labour Code; and
  2. Remuneration of normal work performed on public holidays or compensatory  rest  period for that same work, in a company not required to suspend the operation on those days.

According to this extension, the same shall be suspended until December 31, 2014.

This Law came into force today.
