A BA manager who was sacked for his involvement in a flight bookings scam which cost the company £250,000 has brought a claim for unfair dismissal.

The employee received Take That tickets and X Factor passes in exchange for converting cheap 'early booking' tickets into expensive 'last minute' tickets, and was charged with fraud by police but cleared by a jury.  The employee who claims that he was acting at the request of a colleague has claimed unfair dismissal, breach of contract and public interest disclosure.

The Tribunal found that the manager had been acting in breach of BA's ticketing rules, that there was no evidence that his actions were common practice as he claimed, and that BA had acted fairly by dismissing him for misconduct.
