On 4 May the government published a consultation paper raising issues highlighted in various Law Commission reports from the late 1990s. The paper's main focus is on personal injury claims. However, it also includes a section on aggravated, exemplary and restitutionary damages in which it largely rejects proposals for reform in this area put forward by the Law Commission in 1997. The consultation will end on 27 July 2007 and a copy of the consultation paper can be obtained from the Ministry of Justice website at: www.justice.gov.uk/publications/1367.htm.
