On June 18, 2012, U.S. EPA issued a direct final rule extending the deadline for submission of Chemical Data Reporting (CDR) from June 30, 2012 to August 13, 2012.  The CDR rule was issued in 2011 pursuant to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), section 8(a) and required that manufacturers and importers of chemical substances listed on the TSCA Inventory provide data on chemical manufacturing, processing and use in the United States. U.S. EPA justified the extension by citing recent regulatory interpretations, particularly for byproduct chemical substances and issues associated with several aspects of the mandatory electronic reporting.
