Three new financial remedies courts are being trialled in London, South East Wales and the West Midlands in early 2018.
This is good news. The concept behind this is that judges in these courts will have more experience in financial cases compared to now where generalist judges are expected to deal with a wide range of financial disputes and children cases. Many of these judges have a background as children lawyers, either at the Bar or in private practice.
The President of the Family Division, James Munby, has thrown his weight behind the introduction of this new system. As a specialist family lawyer, it is my hope that this will bring greater predictability of outcome when resolving financial claims on divorce and separation.
