The Government has confirmed that there will be no amendments made to the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 before they come into force in October 2011. There had been a previous announcement that the Government were looking again at the Regulations in light of concerns expressed by many businesses. Regulations are heavily based on the agreement made by the previous government, and in the absence of being able to reach further agreement with the TUC and CBI, the Coalition Government has decided that no amendments will be made.

The key requirements of the Regulations are for employers to provide basic working and employment conditions for temporary workers (after 12 weeks on an assignment) that are no less favourable than if those workers had been recruited directly.

To help employers comply with the new Regulations the BIS will be issuing guidance notes which should be published in early 2011
