The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has delayed its proposed revocation of the Site Waste Management Plans Regulations 2008 (SI 2008/314) in England.
The Government now plans to revoke the regulations with effect from 1 December 2013 (rather than 1 October 2013). However over 70% of respondents to the government consultation indicated that notwithstanding the repeal of the Regulations they would continue to use Site Waste Management Plans on projects in the drive to save costs through better waste management. A number of respondents also mentioned that they would use SWMPs as part of BREEAM or the Code for Sustainable Homes.
