On March 11, 2009, President Obama signed into law H.R. 1105, the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009, extending funding for the E-Verify Program and the EB-5 Pilot Program.

The E-Verify Program is an Internet-based system operated by USCIS and the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of newly hired employees.

The EB-5 Pilot Program has been extended through September 30, 2009. Through the period of extension, USCIS will continue to receive, process, and adjudicate regional center proposals and forms affiliated with Regional Centers relying on an "indirect" job creation analysis (i.e., Forms I-526, Immigrant Petitions by Alien Entrepreneur and Forms I-485, Applications to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status).
