The European Commission (Commission) has approved the grant of State aid worth €46.3m by France to the BioIntelligence Research and Development Programme (BRDP) to be managed by Dassault Systèmes. The BRDP will last for five years. The Commission found the proposed aid compatible with the Community Framework for State aid for Research and Development and Innovation (2006/C 323/01). Without it, the BRDP will continue to suffer from co-ordination problems and information irregularity. The aim of the aid is to fund small and medium sized enterprises specialising in bioinformatics as a means of promoting the use of systemic modelling and simulation tools to develop accurate biomedical databases and improve research capabilities.
