On 6 November 2013, Aidan Kerr of the Association of British Insurers delivered a speech to the Post Magazine Fraud Conference during which he outlined a number of upcoming UK initiatives designed to combat insurance fraud. These include the Insurance Fraud Register (which will hold details of first party and third party fraudsters, as well as suppliers and professional enablers who have previously been found to have committed fraud) and plans for secure access to driver licence details held by the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency), which would allow automatic checks to be carried out on behalf of insurers against DVLA data (including convictions, penalty points and disqualifications).
