On 26 July 2017, the Export Control Organisation published a new open general export licence (OGEL) to allow the export or transfer of military goods, software or technology from the United Kingdom to Turkey.
The products permitted for export under the license are for exclusive use in the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) TF-X programme, a joint-venture between the TAI and Britain’s BAE Systems. Under the OGEL, exports may be permitted for either:
- the design, development, manufacture, trials or testing of TF-X; or
- processing, incorporation into other products and for re-export, provided they are for the design, development, manufacture, trials or testing of TF-X.
The OGEL will come into force on Friday 28 July 2017. You can find a link to the licence here.
