CMA publishes final motor insurance recommendations: CMA has published its final report into the car insurance markets, and measures that will increase competition. These include:

  • a ban on agreements between price comparison websites and insurers that stop the insurer making its products available more cheaply elsewhere;
  • improving customer information on the costs and benefits of the protected no-claims bonus; and
  • a suggestion that FCA should look into how insurers inform customers about add-ins to car insurance policies.

It has not proceeded with a recommendation on the costs to at-fault drivers of post-accident services. Although it found these are often too high, it has not found a proportionate remedy that would not require a significant change to the law.
