In October 2008, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) published a paper entitled "Guidance on Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide". The guidance is intended to help inform directors about the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 (the Act) which came into force on 6 April 2008.

As well as giving some background on the legislation and analysing the key sections of the Act, the guidance paper contains some useful steps that organisations can take to minimize the risk of prosecution for corporate manslaughter.
