On May 19, 2017, we alerted our readers to the fact that OSHA had proposed a delay for implementation of the electronic submission of injury and illness data, moving the dates of compliance from July 1, 2017, to October 1, 2017. OSHA has extended the date of implementation again. The new compliance date will be December 1, 2017 and OSHA expects to be able to roll-out the online submission portal on August 1, 2017. Before our readers take action to comply with the new rule, please note that OSHA is taking comment concerning the rule and the Administration is reviewing the rule’s requirements, both suggesting that the final rule might change before actual implementation.
